Little Moreton Hall
Stately Homes |
In 1990 engineers famously commented on the tumbling architecture of the Hall, saying ‘logically it should not still be standing up'. Fortunately, this magnificent timber-framed manor house has defied logic and changed very little in over five hundred years!
It took around one hundred years from the first stages of building for the iconic Hall to stand as it does today, each new phase reflecting the fashions of the times and the increasing Moreton family wealth.
Find out how the family lived day-to-day in Tudor Britain on a free guided tour. In the historical knot garden and orchard, see medieval edible and medicinal plants, quince and medlar trees.
We use as much produce from the garden as possible in our kitchen, where seasonal home cooked meals, cakes and scones are made daily. The warm and welcoming shop is the ideal place to hunt out a special gift or souvenir of your visit.
